Cut 3 Words, Sound 10x More Confident
You sit down to write a post.
You write your About page.
You start an email.
You know what you want to say.
But when you hit publish… crickets.
No engagement. No replies.
And you’re left thinking:
Why isn’t anyone responding?
If that sounds familiar, here’s something to consider:
You’re not saying the wrong thing.
You’re just not saying it as clearly as you could.
When you’re writing for your business—your website, your social media, your emails—there’s a lot of unlearning that has to happen.
Most of us were taught to write in school.
To sound polished.
To use descriptive words.
To pad our sentences so they didn’t feel too direct.
And now those habits are sneaking into your marketing.
Words that seem harmless are quietly softening your message and making it harder for people to connect.
The most common ones?
- Just.
- Very.
- Really.
You probably don’t even notice them—but they’re everywhere.
Here’s what I mean.
You write:
“I’m so excited to share this new program I’ve been working on. It’s very aligned with the work I love to do, and I really hope it resonates.”
Now try this:
“This program was built for women who are ready for change. It’s simple, powerful, and ready.”
Same intent.
But now it’s direct. It sounds like someone who knows exactly what she’s offering—and who it’s for.
Another one:
You write:
“This work is very close to my heart, and I’m just so honoured to support women on their journey.”
Try this instead:
“Helping women transform their lives is the work I’m here to do.”
It’s not about sounding cold.
It’s about sounding clear.
This isn’t about confidence.
It’s not about “being better” at writing.
It’s about writing in a way people can feel.
And the truth is—you’ve been taught to over-explain.
To soften. To be “professional.”
And in doing that, your real message—the one that actually connects—is getting buried.
Try This Simple Shift
So here’s what I want you to try:
Next time you write something for your business—
go back and cut every just, very, and really.
Then read it again.
If it sounds more grounded, more certain, more obvious—that’s not a trick.
That’s your real voice.
And that’s what gets people to stop scrolling and say, “This is for me.”
You don’t need louder copy.
You need clearer words that reflect the strength you already have.
And if your content hasn’t been getting the response you hoped for—this is a good place to start.
One small shift.
Big difference.
Now let’s make sure your words do the same.
