You’re Not Selling Because You’re Playing It Too Safe
I’ve been seeing this a lot lately, and I need to say something.
So many clients come to me saying, “I just want more sales.” But when I look at their content—it’s full of value, packed with insights, tons of authority-building posts… and absolutely zero clear offers.
No wonder people aren’t buying.
They’re being helpful. Educational. Smart. And honestly, the content is really good. But it stops just short of telling their audience how to take the next step.
- No “Here’s how to work with me.”
- No “I’ve got this thing that can help.”
- No clear invitation to buy.
And here’s what happens when that goes on too long:
People start to think you’re just here to share ideas. Not to solve problems. Not to lead them somewhere specific.
The Truth About Authority Content
And here’s the truth—it’s not wrong to post authority content. There’s a pro to that approach: it builds trust, shows credibility, and positions you as someone who knows what they’re talking about.
But if you never ask people to buy, you’re training them not to.
That’s the con. You’re teaching your audience to stay in the “free content” zone. To watch, appreciate, maybe even save your post—but not take action.
How to Sell Without Being Pushy
If you want to sell, you have to say so. Not once. Not buried. Not hinting.
Say it clearly, proudly, and often.
Because when someone is ready to solve their problem, they don’t want to hunt for the solution. They want to be shown where to go.
Here’s what I tell my clients:
You don’t have to be pushy. You just have to be clear.
There’s a big difference between yelling “BUY NOW” in every post… and simply saying, “Here’s how you can take the next step with me.”
You can keep sharing value. You can still be generous.
But if you don’t include a clear ask—your audience is left hanging. And so is your bank account.
