September 1 isn’t a deadline
The inbox flood is coming
The “hurry before it’s gone” emails.
The AI courses.
The $999-now-just-$37 programs.
The promise that this – finally – will be the thing.
And I know what that does to you.
You open a tab to check one thing.
You emerge an hour later with 7 “limited-time” deals in your cart and no idea what you were even looking for.
Then comes the crash.
You close the tab.
You feel the pit in your stomach.
And you hear it – that voice that whispers,
“Why do I keep falling for this?”
My fall cycle and the truth behind the hype
This used to be my cycle every fall.
About five years ago, I was mid-scroll – about to buy another $37 “Black Friday bundle” because it promised clarity and speed.
And right before I clicked,
I looked around and thought:
Nothing in my business had changed in months.
Except my to-do list.
It just kept getting longer — and louder.
New routine.
New planner.
New strategy.
New distraction.
And none of it got me closer to one paying client.
They profit off your panic
Let me say this clearly:
They profit off your panic.
Your “it’s already Q4 and I’m behind” anxiety?
That’s their goldmine.
They don’t care if you finish the course.
They care that you buy the course.
That you chase one more trick, hoping this one finally lands.
And every time you do, your confidence takes the hit.
Meanwhile, your laptop is full of PDFs.
Your brain? Overcooked.
And the thing you actually want –
Clients.
Cashflow.
Clarity.
That keeps waiting while you reorganize your Google Drive again.
September 1: A checkpoint, not a deadline
So here’s the checkpoint I’m setting down:
September 1.
Not a dare.
Not a deadline.
Just a pause.
A moment to stop. Look. Re-align.
Imagine it:
The coffee is warm.
Your laptop is closed.
No sales page open. No course countdown.
And nothing explodes.
Just you – shoulders down, jaw unclenched – finally remembering you’re allowed to build this slow and smart.
Ask yourself:
Are you doing the things that move your business forward…
Or the things that just make you feel busy?
Sit with that.
Don’t buy anything.
Don’t start a new planner.
Just sit.
And tell the truth.
More noise won’t save you.
But your instincts?
Still sharp.
